Dunn Hill 2 Speedway Honors The 2011
Track Champions
On Saturday, December 10, 2011, at the Wysox
Fire Hall, promoter Mark Spencer and his
management staff presented a great awards
banquet for the racing teams. Dinner was
prepared by the Wysox Fire Auxiliary. After
dinner door prizes were handed out, then it was
on to the awards ceremony followed by music
provided by Eric Ellsworth's D J Service.
The top ten in each of the five divisions were
honored. The 2011 Champions honored were
Klem Underwood in the Front Wheel Drive
division, Eric Ellsworth in the Mini Stock division,
Brad Sites in the Factory Stock division, Ernie
Martin in the Street Stock division and Eddie
Sites in the IMCA Modified division. Each driver
in attendance received a plaque or trophy along
with a points fund envelope. Mark Spencer
presented each of the champions a 28 X 40
picture of their victory lane photo.
For the first time the management decided to
hand out some special awards. Rookie of the
Year Honors went to Klem Underwood(FWD),
Tyler Belcher (Mini Stocks), Brad Sites(Factory
Stock), Bill Price Jr.,(Street Stock), and Victor
McNeal(IMCA). The award for Most Improved
Driver went to Rick Sinsabaugh(FWD), Shane
Brown(Mini Stocks), Kurtis Benjamin(Factory
Stock), Josh Ames(Street Stock) and Harry
Ely(IMCA). The prestigious award for Best
Appearing Car went to Marcus Wood(FWD), JR
Bush(Mini Stock), Kurtis Benjamin(Factory
Stock), Ricky Davis Sr.(Street Stock), and Matt
Sobiech(IMCA). Three final special awards were
handed out for the Wildest Ride, Hard Luck and
Professionalism and Enthusiasm. There were
several drivers who could have won the first
honor, but it was Chris Conrad who took a Wild
Ride in between turns one and two early in the
season. After Chris's flip he climbed to the top
of the car and did a little dance. The Hard Luck
award is one that no driver ever wants to
receive, but Kenny Underwood did have his share
of tough luck throughout the season. From
popping sounds to flat tires Kenny could not
catch a break. The final track award of the
evening went to a driver who should the
Professionalism and Enthusiasm each night of
racing. This driver made his way into victory
lane on several occasions. When things did not
go his way he never let that bother him. He was
always the first driver to congratulate his fellow
competitors when they took the win. He never
had a bad word to say about any calls made at
the track or about any of the on track action that
didn't always go his way. This was the first year
for this award that will become a permanent
honor in the years to come. The honor was
given to the driver of the IMCA Modified and the
2011 Track Champion Eddie Sites.
During the last month of racing at the track, the
fans had a chance to be heard. Drivers cards
were made for the fans to purchase. On the
bottom of each card was a ballot to vote for
their favorite drivers. The 2011 Fan Favorite
Driver awards were given out to Donna Belcher in
the Front Wheel Drive division, Tyler Belcher in
the Mini Stock division, Kurtis Benjamin and Brad
Sites tied in the Factory Stock division, Jason
Benjamin in the Street Stock division and in the
IMCA Modified division, it was Don Cole bringing
home the honors.
It was a night of fun for all who attended.
Promoter Mark Spencer stated that there would
be a rules meeting in early January. There will
not be any changes on the divisions that will be
competing on a weekly basis. Stay tune to the
