Great Night Of Racing With Seven Features At Dunn Hill 2 Speedway

As the season comes to a close, this past Friday night was jammed packed with racing.  The racing program had
two additional features to be completed from July 27Th.  The Front Wheel Drive and Street Stock divisions were the
first events of the evening.

Street Stocks came on to the track with Bruce Benjamin and Kim Vosburg making up the front row.  When the
green dropped Jason Benjamin made a move into the lead with Bobby Maynard in second.  Both drivers battled hard
for the top position, as lap traffic played into the race.  Current points leader Nick Robinson was making his way
through traffic into the top five.  Ricky Davis was also looking to make his move to the front to capture valuable points
over Nick.  Unfortunately lady luck did not shine on the Davis machine as he went pit side.  With the checkered flag
closing in Jason Benjamin was making sure that Bobby Maynard would not catch him.  Nick Robinson was in third and
challenging the Maynard machine for second.  When the checkers flew it was Jason Benjamin recording his second
feature win of the season.  Rounding out the top five were Bobby Maynard, Nick Robinson, Ernie Martin and Kurtis
Benjamin.

The popular Front Wheel Drive Divsion was the next makeup feature.  Fourteen teams were on hand all hoping
that they would find victory lane.  When the green flag dropped Howard Bailey in the red, white and blue number 58
jumped into the lead.  For the first six laps he held off Trevor Williams  for the lead.  On lap eight Trevor took the lead
on the inside coming off turn four.  Trevor went on to capture his second feature win of the season.  Coming in a
close second was Brandon Hillyard, third went to Nick Wesneski, with fourth to Mike Ely and rounding out the top five
with his best finish of the season was Howard Bailey.

The regular show for the evening began with the Mini Stocks feature event.  It was a Navone front row with Ed
and Mike bringing the field to the green.  Ed only held the lead for lap one, as Doug Colton grabbed the lead away.
Coming from the eighth starting position was Tyler Belcher.  He worked his way into the second position by the fourth
lap.  Setting his sights on the Colton machine.  Both drivers ran a strong race and challenged each other for several
laps.  Tyler managed to get around Doug on lap ten.  They continued to battle for the top position, as several
cautions kept them bunched up.  Into the closing laps the battle tightened up with Josh Hall and Shane Brown making
the moves into the top five.  When the checkers fell it was Tyler Belcher recording his fifth feature win.  Coming
across in second was Doug Colton, third was Josh Hall, fourth was Shane Brown and in fifth was Alan Blackwell.

The nationally sanctioned IMCA Mods made their way onto the track.  Rich Howard and Shannon Oswald
brought the field to the green.  The rookie Rich Howard led the first four laps of the event.  He battled Eddie
McKernan for the lead until lap five when McKernan stole it away.  Rich continued to hold off Jake Maynard for the
second position until a caution came out.  On the restart current points leader Eddie Sites made a move into second.
The race for the lead now became the Eddie and Eddie show as both drivers ran a competitive finish.  Eddie Sites
tried everything he could to get around the McKernan machine.  While Eddie McKernan knew that he had to be
careful and keep the Sites machine behind him.  When the checkers flew the fans were on their feet as Eddie
McKernan recorded his third feature of the season.  Eddie Sites, Jake Maynard, Ray McClure and Brad Sites
rounded out the top five.

The fan favorite Factory Stocks took to the track.  Justin Young and George Briegel made up the front row.
When the green fell it was Stan Matthew grabbing the lead.  You could tell that Stan had his sights set on capturing
his seventh win.  Going into tonight's feature event Stan was in second place in the points race.  He was 48 points
behind Mike Mente and he knew he could close the gap with a win.  Mike moved into second place hoping he could
catch Stan and be the one in victory lane.  Two cautions by half way kept the car bunched up and the action tight.
Coming into the mix was David Ackley who was hungry to catch a win.  David moved into third and was challenging
the Mente machine for second.  On lap 13 David's dream of a win was shattered as he was involved in a tangle.  He
was able to continue, but had to go to the rear of the field.  On the restart Stan knew that Mike was looking to steal
away the lead.  The battled hard for the next two laps with Stan and Mike racing clean.  On lap 16 Mike made the
move coming off turn four for the lead.  Stan kept him in his sights, but could not get around the number 15.  When
the checkers flew it was Mike Mente recording win number seven.  Stan Matthews was second, third was Allen
Carnrike, fourth was newcomer Stu Morrison and in fifth was Tim Fletcher.

Front Wheel Drive division had twenty one cars in attendance.  Only nineteen took the green flag in the feature
event with Howard Bailey and Trevor Belcher in the front row.  Trevor took the lead and held off strong competition
from Howard and Brandon Hillyard.  He held on as Mike Ely was working he way to the front.  On lap seven Mike took
the lead from Trevor.  Trevor tried to take it back, but Mike would not allow it.  This division's racing has been exciting
all season long.  With only one caution early in the event the fans got to see some great action.  As the laps ticked
away Mike Ely now had some new competition trying to get the top spot away.  Devon Bailey and Kory Lewis made it
known they wanted in on the action.  Both drivers raced hard for their positions, but could not catch the Ely machine.
When lap twenty came it was Mike Ely picking up his first feature of the season.  Devon Bailey, Kory Lewis, Nick
Wesneski and Jeremiah Clonch followed Mike across the line.

The final feature of the evening was the Street Stocks.  When the race began it was Kurtis Benjamin grabbing
the early lead.  Following right behind him was Bobby Maynard and Jason Benjamin.  Both hunting for the lead with
jason hoping to capture win number two of the night.  It was Nick Robinson who had his idea of coming home in first.
By lap four Robinson had the lead, making up his mind that he was not giving it up.  Coming from mid pack was Nick's
backup car being driven by Eddie Sites.  Eddie moved into second and gave Nick a good run.  Both drivers raced
hard and side by side for the remainder of the feature.  When the checkers flew it was Nick recording win number six.
Following Nick was Eddie Sites, Bobby Maynard, Jason Benjamin and Kurtis Benjamin.
